We must vote for those candidates of any party that reflect these values: hard work, self-determination, smaller government, fiscal responsibility and honesty. Look to the character of anyone you chose to support. Their past does matter if they haven't learned from it. Their personal life is as relevant as their public one. We must be able to trust those who will be advising and leading us on what our country must do next. -Glenn Beck

After the VP debate I have a question...

Why can't the VP candidates be the ones running for president? I like them both a lot more than the presidential candidates.

I couldn't agree more! I was kind of "eh" about this race until the VP's were chosen! That's the only reason I became excited! I think it would be great if Palin gets in this time as VP and runs for Pres next time!! She'd have my vote!!

Haven't watched the debate yet (Ute football comes first at my house.) I am excited to see how it went though.

Watching the debate now had to post this best line of the debate so far: "Say it ain't so Joe..." I laughed like crazy she cracks me up.

I was impressed with both candidates. I wonder though if I would like them less if I had been listening to 10 months worth of their comments (and the media spin about them) like I have with McCain and Obama. The VP canidates haven't been on the tickets long enough for me to get sick of them. It's not that I'm cynical about the election process, just the media and it's ruthless attacks.

Amen to Mike or Shaina's comment about the 10 months of comments and media spin. I am about done with the campaigning process. Sarah Palin is very easy to listen and relate to, if it were her as the presidential candidate it would be a harder choice for me. Sorry McCain fans.

I thought BOTH VP hopefuls were waivering, and did not answer the questions. They avoided so many of them, by just weaving around to a topic they new....energy for Palin, and foreign policy for Biden. If you rewatch the debates a lot of the possibly "clever" banter is shed and you see politics at it's worse. People dodging the issues and contradicting both themselves and their running mates. And although I do like Palin's attempt to relate to the average Joe, you have to ask yourself...do I really feel confident in her ability to meet with the inimidating leaders of the world when she says her foreign policy is being close to Russia? I emphatically disagree with many of Obama's platforms, but I do not think an inexperienced, although good-hearted, Palin is capable or knowledgeable enough to lead this nation if a 72 yr old McCain was no longer able. What is her economic, foreign policy, and judicial related background? I guess I am just saying that I think the VP debate only reaffirmed to me how much are nation is going to struggle in the upcoming years. I suggest watching the debate again, a 2nd time through is very eye opening. Both Biden and Palin show their ineffectiveness, and unfortunately Palin (who I was more a fan of before this) shows her lack of necessary experience...not too mention her Katie Couric interviews. McCain should have picked Romney, someone with economic experience and more concrete knowledge of national ongoings.

Good points. Though I'm not worried about Palin leading this country. If anything, the debate increased my faith in her ability. Not because she's the most knowledgeable person in political matters, but because I trust her as a person. None of the candidates know everything they'll need to know if they're elected, but they're surrounded by people who can educate them on those matters and then they'll make the best decision based on that knowledge. I believe Palin will pick advisers who are good, trustworthy people and then she'll make a good decision based on what she thinks is right. Even if it's opposite of what Hollywood or some interest groups may want her to do.

Obama on the other hand... If the advisers he's had in the past are any representation of who he'll pick in the future... that's just scary.

bethany,

As usual you make a valid point. Hopefully it works out as you've outlined. I don't know if I yet fully share your belief in her potential success, but I believe I do share your hope.

I have such a hard time watching debates. That's my non-confrontational side. But, I was so excited when I saw Sarah Pallin speak at the Republican convention. I was fired up and felt super hopeful. My mom said it was like how she felt when Reagan would speak. She would make an amazing president.
